WHAT WILL WE LEARN

During these tough COVID times, many people are actually sleeping less. Maybe we try to enjoy our quiet time in the evenings and relax.

How can sleep improve our daily productivity?

  • Sufficient sleep (at least 6 hours a night) helps reduce the risk of burnout on the job.

  • Our memory improves because we can consolidate what we learned more efficiently with improved sleep.

  • We can re-focus on the important tasks better and faster.

  • We feel less tired, which improves our mood in general.

Tips on how to improve sleep?

  • If you can sleep closer to your natural circadian rhythm, this can help improve your levels of sleep.

    • If naturally a night owl, try adjusting your work schedule around your biological sleep clock.

  • Make sure to separate your work and home lives, particularly if we are fortunate enough to work from home.

    • As home becomes our workplace, consider whether you can find a separate corner for work and step away from this space when you are not working.

  • Improve your social support

    • Social interaction is really important to reducing stress, which can improve our sleep!

  • Try to avoid using social media and your electronic devices too much before sleeping.
