Ep143: Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome: Is It Laziness or Is It DSPS? with Dr. Sarah Silverman

OVERVIEW

Are you one of those people who sleep late at night and wake up late in the morning? If yes, you might have also been misconstrued as lazy.


Apparently, laziness isn’t always the reason why these people have this behavior. Some of them are experiencing delayed sleep phase syndrome. DSPS is a disorder in which a person's sleep is delayed by two hours or more beyond what is considered an acceptable or conventional bedtime. We’ll understand this sleep disorder better with the help of Dr. Sarah Silverman.


Dr. Silverman is a Stanford-trained behavioral sleep medicine specialist, holistic sleep wellness consultant, and insomnia expert with over a decade of experience. She treats a wide variety of sleep problems in private practice using a personalized, mindfulness-based treatment approach. Notably, she is an expert in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for insomnia (CBTi), the first-line, drug-free treatment for adults with chronic insomnia. CBTi is an effective way to improve sleep naturally and overcome chronic insomnia without medication.
