Ep074: Sleep-Disordered Breathing: When a Child Is at Risk While Sleeping - With Dr. Dassani

OVERVIEW

Most parents are having a hard time figuring out how to deal with their children’s health problems. Especially if the symptoms are equally the same as other illnesses like ADHD and sleep disorders of some sort. Parents often asked help from health professionals but the problem is identifying the correct providers that they needed. Sleep apnea is a common problem that parents don’t know much about. Children mostly show symptoms that parents take as normal behavior like snoring at night or making movements while sleeping. But how will parents know if they should take these signs seriously? Is there a proper breathing pattern for children especially when they are asleep?

For this week’s episode, I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Meghna Dassani she is a general dentist in Houston Texas and has twenty years of experience in the field of dentistry. She is also a writer and has recently published a book about sleep-disordered breathing entitled Airway is Life: Waking up to your family's sleep crisis. Learn more about this sleep-breathing disorder and be aware of the signs.
