Ep091: Gender and Sleep Apnea: Can There Be Equality - With - Dr. Duclair

OVERVIEW

Men and women surely have a lot of differences but out of the many, the least that we can think of is how the two differ from sleep disorders. Take for example in sleep apnea, we may think that both men and women may have the same symptoms for the said disorder. Although research shows that men’s health is more at risk of having the said sleep disorder,  women on the other hand have a lesser chance of being diagnosed with OSA. Unlike men, women don’t often show symptoms like snoring. But if that is the case how can a woman know if she is suffering from sleep apnea?

For this week's episode, I am so delighted to have on the show Dr. Carol Duclair. She is a licensed sleep physician in New Jersey and served a four-year tenure as medical director at the Hunterdon Medical Sleep Disorders Center in Flemington, New Jersey. Dr. Carol also has her website B.Hai Sleep Health that aims to help people suffering from sleep disorders like sleep apnea. In this interview, she will share with us how sleep apnea differs between men and women. Dr. Carol will also make us understand how the said sleep disorder can have a great impact on a woman’s health and quality of life. She will also discuss why women are more prone to having insomnia than men. Tune in and let us help you have a better quality of life by sleeping right!
